The Big Picture

Designing sustainably is imperative in the modern world. Addressing climate change is on the radar of every building developer, and architects, designers and engineers need to be providing solutions that minimize both embodied and operational carbon from their designs.

The Problem

Seamless communication between the various design tools is critical to be able to answer the plethora of questions that a design problem throws at you. For example, you need to be able to include accurate existing conditions data into your embodied energy design tool.

Why does this matter

The quest for interoperability boils down to not having to modify your design file every time you change from one tool to another.

Solution

To make this process smoother, we’ve revised our deliverables to include the “Function” parameter for both walls and floors to identify an element as either “Interior” or “Exterior”.

By making these small changes, we’re making it far easier to move your model from one tool to the next.  And so making the task of getting accurate existing conditions information into CoveTool much simpler.

Who can use this

Designed for all CoveTool users - designers, architects, engineers.

What software is required

The BIM properties we’ve revised are for CoveTool’s Revit Add-in.

How it works

We’ve revised our deliverables to include the “Function” parameter for both walls and floors to identify an element as either “Interior” or “Exterior”.

Benefits

By making these small changes, we’re making it far easier to move your model from one tool to the next.  And so making the task of getting accurate existing conditions information into CoveTool much simpler.

CoveTool

Cove.Tool is a cloud-based network of tools allowing design teams to quickly evaluate options in the early design stages that could positively impact the building’s performance.

Integrated Projects

BIMIT is the simplest way to convert your registered point cloud to BIM.
